Tied Memories is a project by Carolina Moreira, a student on the Master’s in Design — Product, which has been selected as a finalist for the Young Design Generation exhibition, part of Lisbon Design Week.
The project, developed as part of the student’s master’s thesis, explores the potential of collaborative design as a tool for human interaction and collective creation. Using an adapted loom, Tied Memories offers a shared creative experience through weaving, promoting participation, communication and a sense of belonging.
The co-design workshop “Empathy devices for sensory exploration” set the tone for the project’s creation, in response to a challenge launched by ALADI — Associação Lavrense de Apoio ao Diminuído Intelectual. The proposal sought to develop accessible sensory therapy devices that could be integrated into the institution’s daily routine.
Designed for different users and abilities, the loom enables the collective creation of textile pieces through the interweaving of materials, colours and textures, valuing the collaborative process and the sharing of experiences.
The project was part of the main exhibition of the 4th edition of the Porto Design Biennale as part of Happisode "In Synchro".
