Students from the Short Course in Food Packaging Design take part in the Model Young Package competition

Students from the Food Packaging Design Short Course took part in the Model Young Package competition, an international packaging design competition.

The theme chosen for this edition was ‘Sweets in the Box’, encouraging participants to build packaging for sweets and treats inspired by childhood memories or their favourite sweets. The challenge is to create cardboard packaging that not only protects and preserves the product in a sustainable way, but also tells a story, provides an experience and stimulates the senses.

Model Young Package is a competition that promotes packaging design projects in cardboard and other paper-based materials, with the aim of honouring innovative primary, secondary or tertiary packaging solutions for sweets that overcome traditional restrictions. Proposals must use paper-based materials that fulfil current sustainability criteria, in line with ecological goals and contemporary trends in the packaging sector. The best designs will be selected in February by a jury consisting of packaging experts and brand representatives.

This Short Course is part of the Blue Design Alliance programme, which promotes training that uses design tools to educate and train for the development of innovative solutions in the field of environmental sustainability.
