One of the intergenerational actions planned within the project O Bairro está IN(clusivo) is the realization of a self-build workshop in the public space of the Cruz de Pau neighbourhood.

The workshop IN(construction) proposes the creation of 5 wooden structures in self-build process, in a participative system that brings together the ESAD' students of the Master in Interior Design, together with the students of Matosinhos Secondary School and the neighbourhood residents.

One of the first structures to be built within the scope of this workshop is a Christmas Tree. The public opening will take place on 17 December, at 5 p.m., and will include a general presentation of the project to the population and entertainment with local groups BoomBox and Grupo de Bombos da Cruz de Pau.

The Christmas Tree project has the lighting support of ailight, under a partnership between the company and ESAD.

O Bairro está IN(clusivo) is a project supported by the national healthy neighbourhoods programme, developed by esad-idea, in partnership with MatosinhosHabit, Matosinhos Secondary School, Matosinhos Local Health Unit, Cruz de Pau Residents Association and CIAP – Centre for Encouragement of Sharing.

MIKRO OVERLAY

The piece aims to strengthen the community spirit, providing the population with leisure moments. It projects a seating area around a tree and integrates the extension of one of the benches, allowing the connection and wrapping of a more distant tree. It is born from the deconstruction of a game of Mikado, giving it dynamism, with different heights and overlapping of beams.

(WITHOUT)BORDERS

Structure that integrates two staircases and a valance, on an upper level level with the flaw of the cross-border wall, fulfilling the objective of creating a connection with the space outside the neighbourhood and favouring contact between residents. The seating function, evident in the flirtations, can also be fulfilled by the access stairs.

RE(STENDAIS)

A structure developed with the purpose of making more efficient use of the clothesline area, which divides its space with an urban waste area and a car park. The structure has a continuous and linear format, which works as a kind of wooden curtain, highlighting the division between the clean area and the space more subject to dirt.

CRUZ(ZADA)

The projected piece proposes an appropriation and greater fruition of the urban space by the population. The proposal aims at the organization of a passers-by path, the creation of covered spaces for permanence and the installation of new seating areas. The new benches are intended to establish a face-to-face relationship with the pre-existing ones, leading to an enhancement of them. The furniture was designed from modular structures, with the insertion of swings and a goal at one end, in a playful perspective.
