Curated by Jeremy Aston, Not Just Hot Air presents a history of industrial design and technological innovation, with a simple everyday object—the blow-dryer—as focal point.

Not Just Hot Air draws inspiration from Jeremy Aston's extensive collection of blow-dryers, featuring over 170 products form around the world to showcase a century of industrial design.

Ordinary, yet sophisticated objects, blow-dryers' design entail the social, economic, cultural and industrial changes that took place throughout the 20th century. Each blow-dryer in the collection reveals the evolution of technology and design, including designs by Peter Behrens, Dieter Rams, and James Dyson.

The exhibition also features stories of fashion, advertising and consumer culture which contributed to make the blow-dryer an indispensable household appliance. The research that led to the exhibition is presented in a publication that delves into the history of this artefact and the products on display, including true design icons.
