Image in the Post-Millennium
— Mediation, Process and Critical Tension
Resulting from the conference hosted by the Porto Design Biennale in 2019, Image in the Post-Millennium: Mediation, Process and Critical Tension is a co-edition by esad—idea and Onomatopee.
The conference Image in the Post-Millennium, coordinated by Maria João Baltazar and Tomé Quadros, took place on November 7, 2019, in the context of the Porto Design Biennale. The event examined the role of the image in different media today, and resulted in Image in the Post-Millennium: Mediation, Process and Critical Tension, a collection of essays on the complex structure of the contemporary image in relation to perception and the Visual Culture.
In a culture of digital media, wherein Design, Cinema and New Media intersect, this book zooms in on the image’s dynamic factors seen as a field of work in which the creation of contents and forms is inscribed in a post-digital era.
Compiled by Maria João Baltazar and Tomé Saldanha Quadros, Image in the Post-Millennium: Mediation, Process and Critical Tension features an introduction by Jonas Staal, and essays by Isabel Capeloa Gil, José Bártolo, Sofia Gonçalves, Margarida Brito Alves, Claudia Giannetti, Helena Sofia Silva and Carlos Sena Caires.
