Galicia
— Processes and Forms
An exhibition and editorial project that charts the history of design in Galicia, as well as its future.
Galicia. Processes and Forms sought to convey the importance of design in building Galicia's identity. The exhibition curated by David Barro was on show at the Galeria Municipal de Matosinhos, as part of the third edition of the Porto Design Biennale.
Galicia (Spain), the guest country of the Porto Design Biennale 2023, featured projects that fostered the democratic openness and the legitimization of Design as discipline that played a part in renewing Galicia's image and helped creating innovative products. The exhibition also carried out an exercise on speculative design based on the territory’s resources, while reflecting the Atlantic condition common to Northern Portugal and Galicia.
Galicia. Processes and Forms is complemented by an editorial project that reflects on design as a driving force for innovation in Galicia's past and future. The project included workshops and a conference, hosted by ESAD, with David Barro and young Galician designers.
