Bruno Mesquita

Bruno Mesquita graduated in Digital Arts and Multimedia from the ESAD — College of Art and Design and holds a Master's degree in Media Arts from the University of Minho (UM). He is currently pursuing a PhD in Fine Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP).
He worked at esad—Idea - Research in Design and Art as a filmmaker and photographer, focusing on documentation and visual experimentation in photography and video. He has collaborated on projects such as Hands-On Type (2021), Porto Design Biennale – Alter Realities (2021), and Porto Design Biennale – Being Water (2023), working as a photographer, filmmaker, and photography and video coordinator.
He was a Research Fellow at the Center for Communication and Society Studies (CECS), as part of the project “MigraMediaActs – Migrations, media, and activism in the Portuguese language,” funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). His artistic practice lies at the intersection of media art, critical theory, and activism, exploring themes such as borders, migration, and collective memory. He has participated in exhibitions such as Mostra aMostra – Teatro Municipal da Guarda (2025), 3rd Edition of Contemporary Art Exhibition – Divergência e Futuro by Kabo (Caldas da Rainha, 2024), Processing Community Day – i2ADS (2024), OCUPA #8 – Gnration (2023), and Eye of Next Media Art – Gwangju Media Art Festival (2023).
