ESAD hosted the IUAD “Made in Italy” Workshop

On 25 and 26 June, ESAD hosted the "Made in Italy" workshop, an initiative of the IUAD - Institute of Universal Art and Design (Italy), which introduced students to the main characteristics of Italian fashion.

The workshop was attended by professors Rossella Catapano (Fashion Design), Vincenzo Ambrosino (Shoes Tech Design) and Mariagrazia Flauto (Pattern Making), who explored the heritage and contemporary relevance of the ‘Made in Italy’ label.

By analysing collections, with an emphasis on the work of Gianni Versace, the participants explored the concept of the ‘total look’ through the study of garments physically presented during the sessions. The programme also included a practical component with the development of vintage garment patterns and the creation of a footwear prototype.

This workshop promoted reflection on what it means to create based on Italian tradition and how the legacy of iconic pieces continues to inspire new collections.
