
Roderick Mills is a practicing artist, illustrator, educator, writer and curator. Since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2001, he has worked across most areas of the Illustration industry including editorial, publishing, corporate literature, and advertising for various international clients, including: The BBC, Royal Mail, Penguin Books, Pentagram Design, The Design Museum, Opéra National de Paris, The New York Times, Le Monde, The National Theatre, and is represented by Heart Artists' Agent. Awards include: Print Certificate of Excellence USA, Society of Publication Design SPOTS, The Folio Society Awards, The Quentin Blake Award for Narrative Illustration, ED&F Man Portfolio Prize, AOI Images Pentagram Prize, and work is included in the collection of Bibliothéque nationale de France Réserve des livres rares.
Roderick is also an International Award winning film-maker, Course Leader MDes/BA(Hons) Illustration at University of Brighton, co-founder of the Mokita Illustration Forum, and Deputy Chairman of the Association of Illustrators. He has spoken and presented papers at international conferences including; Illustration Research Symposium Srishti Bangalore India, ICON8: The Illustration Conference Portland Oregon USA 2014, CONFIA 2013 International Conference in Illustration & Animation Porto Portugal, and Drawing in the University Today International Conference University of Oporto Portugal 2013.
Following the lecture The Daily Act of Drawing: Looking and Visual Play, Roderick Mills will be running a workshop for students of the MA in Communication Design 2014/2015, coordinated by Andrew Howard.
