Students on the Undergraduate Degree in Digital Arts and Multimedia collaborated on musician PZ’s new music video
Digital Arts and Multimedia undergraduate students collaborate on the development of the new music video for the Portuguese musician PZ.
Step in. The proposal developed by first-year students of the Bachelor's Degree in Digital Arts and Multimedia at ESAD is part of the music video for the song "Põe-te a Milhas", the most recent release by the portuguese musician PZ, included in the "Álbum de Família" project.
The collaboration arose through Professor Helena Sofia Silva, who established the link between ESAD and the team responsible for the project. The challenge was presented to the students as an opportunity to apply creative and technical skills in a context close to professional reality.
Throughout the project, the students developed the animation for the videoclip, working with materials provided by the artist's creative team. The final result is part of the video directed by Vasco Mendes, which documents the creation process of each of the songs that make up "Álbum de Família". More than just participating in an artistic project, the students had the opportunity to experience some of the dynamics that characterize work in the creative industries: interpreting a brief, responding to concrete objectives, respecting deadlines, and developing proposals for a project with real recipients.
This experience reflects one of the objectives of the Bachelor's Degree in Digital Arts and Multimedia at ESAD: to provide experiences in professional contexts and promote collaborative work with specialists in the field.
The development of the proposal was overseen by Professors Albano Lemos Pires, Diogo Coelho, Filipa Vilares, Helena Sofia Silva and João Tiago Santos who were responsible for coordinating the work carried out by the students. The process involved the creation of animated illustrations from frames of the original video, developed individually by the students and subsequently integrated into a common visual language.
Despite the diversity of approaches, the result revealed strong visual coherence and consistent integration into the narrative of the music video.
For PZ, the collaboration exceeded expectations:
"It turned out to be an excellent piece of work, and it was very good."
Participation in this project is yet another example of the learning experiences promoted by ESAD, bringing students closer to real-world contexts of artistic creation, collaboration, and production.
At ESAD, learning happens through real-world projects and challenges.
