Ruben Oliveira, a 3rd year Communication Design student, is on the shortlist of 25 finalists selected by the jury for the Pro Carton Young Designers Award 2024, in the Sustainability Award category, with the Sustainbag project, developed as part of the Packaging Curriculum Unit, coordinated by lecturer Margarida Azevedo.

The European Carton Excellence Award competition, Pro Carton, challenges students to design new paradigms of sustainability, creating eco-innovative packaging that respects the criteria of functionality, production techniques, cost-efficiency, sustainability and innovation.

The Pro Carton Young Designers Award is Europe's leading annual competition for young talent in the field of packaging design. In 2023, final year Communication Design student Leonor Pinto Félix made the prestigious shortlist with her project ‘Pecchio - Lo Snack Preferito da Tutti’. 

The ceremony where the 2024 winner will be announced will take place on 10 September in the German city of Berlin.
