For the second time, ESAD joins the festival NOS Primavera Sound for the development of a self-construction project in one of the festival's leisure areas.
It's a * micro-architecture initiative in a self-built regime** for the creation of a structure to support the festival's food area, designed and built in five days by the students of the Master in Interior Design of ESAD in partnership with the students of Izmir University of Economics (Turkey), an initiative under the ERASMUS + international mobility program.
Seven projects were carried out (4 by ESAD students and 3 by Izmir University), from which a winner was selected, implemented by students and teachers at the festival place.
In this edition, the participating students of ESAD are: Adriana Martins, Ana Azevedo, Ana Luísa Mamede, Ana Patrícia Cardoso, Carolina Neiva, Cláudia Carriço, Inês Amorim, Clara Koehler Osório, Inês Mesquita, Maria João Martins Pereira, Renata Capitão Laranjeira, Rute Oliveira Franco, Sara Silva Oliveira, Solange Lourival Silva, Vanessa Braga, Diana Pinheiro, Roberta Cardazzi e Pedro Silva, together with the students of Turkey Çagla Irem Karol, Hacer Beril Beden, Türkiz Karaköse, Ipek Bolel, Ilayda Sen, Didem Parlas, Nadir Aksakarya, Ege Hakan Simsek, Batuhan Arslan, Sinem Parlas, Mihrimah Sivrikaya, Esra Ozcan e Nilsu Serdaroglu, with coordination of teachers Maria Milano, João Gomes and João Cruz (ESAD) and Silvia Rolla (Izmir University).
This initiative, organized by the Master in Interior Design of ESAD, coordinated by Maria Milano, follows a series of workshops that introduced concepts in Portugal related to self-construction. A partnership between the making hand and the thinking mind, exploring the intimate relationship between designing and doing, also taking into account the principles of sustainability and integration in the environment.
It's noted, in this context, the Viewport WineBar, which gave birth to a lounge space in front of the Municipal Market of Matosinhos (2012); the Selfmade Arena, which built a small auditorium outside the EDP Foundation, in Porto (2013); or the Extemporary Capsule, presented in Italy, as part of the participation of Portugal Triennale in Milan (2016). The actions were coordinated by the ESAD teachers Maria Milano, João Gomes and João Cruz, with the participation of consecrated guests such as Sami Rintala and Dagur Eggertsson (Norway) and Paolo Mestriner and Massimiliano Spadoni (Italy).
