Former fashion student exhibits her final project at the National Costume Museum

Former student Nair Silva presented her Undergraduate Degree in Design — Fashion Design final project at the exhibition “Are we what we wear? Towards sustainable and conscious fashion”, on display at the Loures Municipal Museum – Quinta do Conventinho since 17 April.

This exhibition brings together different perspectives on contemporary challenges in fashion, encouraging critical reflection on sustainability, consumption and environmental responsibility.

The initiative also includes a programme of talks and activities dedicated to sustainability in fashion, featuring lecturers and coordinators from the Undergraduate Degree in Design — Fashion Design, Joana Teodoro and Anita Gonçalves.

This presence is particularly significant in the context of the Undergraduate Degree in Design — Fashion Design, where sustainability and circularity occupy a central place in the curriculum. Striking a balance between conceptualisation and practice, students are challenged to develop a creative identity informed by social, economic and environmental awareness, whilst exploring critical approaches to current systems of production and consumption.

The participation of former student Nair Silva in this exhibition highlights how these concerns translate into professional careers and creative practices, reinforcing the importance of an education committed to the positive transformation of the fashion sector.

The pieces presented by Nair Silva in this exhibition were originally developed as part of her final degree project and featured in the course’s end-of-year fashion show.
