The piece by Marta Magalhães, a recent graduate in Fashion Design from ESAD, has been selected to feature at Lisbon Design Week.
The work explores fashion design as a realm of symbolic construction, where clothing transcends its utilitarian function to play a part in shaping behaviours, desires and collective imaginations.
The piece stands out for its representation of the human skeleton through the application of sequins, creating a visual dialogue between fragility and resilience. The sparkle contrasts with the evocation of the skeletal structure, in a composition that oscillates between the exposure and concealment of the body, questioning its physical, emotional and symbolic dimensions.
Marta Magalhães completed her Bachelor’s degree in 2025 and is currently finishing an internship at designer Maria Gambina’s studio, where she has been honing her technical and creative skills, consolidating her practice within the professional context of contemporary fashion.
