Joana Astolfi is an architect, artist, designer and collector, developing her work with particular focus on the history and narrative of a vast universe of objects and artefacts, seeing space as a living being, with direct influence on human experience. Graduated in Architecture in England, she lived and worked 12 years outside Portugal, between London, Munich, Los Angeles and Venice where, for two years, she integrated the team of Fabrica (Benetton's Creative Research Centre).

In 2009, Joana founded Studio Astolfi, an atelier with a team of 20 collaborators (architects, designers, craftsmen and sculptors) that currently occupies a converted warehouse in Lisbon. The Studio Astolfi has two departments (Architecture and Art) and is dedicated to the rehabilitation of spaces, interior design, window dressing, scenography, creation of artistic installations and conception of signature pieces. Over the years, Studio Astolfi has received several awards, including the award for Best Visual Merchandising by the Monocle Design Awards 2021 and the distinction of Best Luxury Interior Design Studio in Portugal by the Luxury Lifestyle Awards 2020.

Joana Astolfi's client list includes Grupo Avillez, Hermès, Herdade da Comporta, Casa Pau Brasil, Claus Porto, André Ópticas, A Padaria Portuguesa, São Lourenço do Barrocal, L'Oréal, CUF, Storytailors, Village Underground, NOS, Sonae, Teixeira Duarte, The Fladgate Partnership, Grupo Azora, Oceanário de Lisboa, Sagres, Viúva Lamego and De La Espada, as well as his private clients for whom he also produces custom-made pieces, installations and spaces.

Astolfi organizes conferences worldwide and is an invited member of jury panels in architectural competitions and art biennales. She was recently recognised as one of the Top 100 Entrepreneurs in the category of Design in The Monocle Book of Entrepreneurs.
