Undergraduate in Design — Product student receives award at International Glassberry Competition
David Silva, a 2nd-year student in the Bachelor’s in Design — Product programme, was awarded the Honorable Glassberry Design and Innovation Award for his innovative concept, developed with a clear understanding of the sector’s demands.
The award was presented by guest designer and competition leader Rita Rivotti, in recognition of the student’s versatile and well-grounded design approach.
The Glassberry Competition, promoted by BA GLASS, was launched in 2012 to mark the company’s centenary and challenge young designers to propose new solutions for the glass packaging industry.
The undergraduate programme is committed to partnerships with industry that connect students with the business market, putting their skills to the test in a real-world context.
This year’s edition brought together students from 9 universities across 5 countries — Bulgaria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, and Spain. The brief focused on designing a new range of standard olive oil bottles (25cl, 50cl, and 75cl), with a flexible concept that allows for easy customisation across different brands.
