On 4 December, a class was held to present the individual projects for the Design course, developed under the theme ‘Future Fire – Speculative Design for the Age of Fires’. The goal was to create industrial design solutions that contribute to fire prevention, detection, or fighting, integrating knowledge of Design, Digital Laboratory, Materials and Production Processes, and related theoretical content.

The session was attended by civil protection and firefighting professionals, involved both in the launch of the proposal and in the final evaluation: Renata Silva (Leixões Humanitarian Association), Pedro Batista (Portuguese Search and Rescue Association) and Henrique Rodrigues (Prevention Division of the Matosinhos City Council).

This moment reinforced the importance of dialogue between design, prevention and the construction of possible futures, underlining the contribution of speculative design in anticipating risk scenarios and creating more resilient solutions.
