esad—idea · Research in Design and Art has opened a research grant for the project "Design of bone fracture fixation plates integrating filigree techniques and motifs" (Ref. 2023.15616.PEX). The project explores the integration of traditional Portuguese filigree into medical devices, focusing on the design of bone plates that combine functional, aesthetic and symbolic value. The grant is aimed at graduates in Product Design or Communication, with an interest in biomedical innovation and artistic practices applied to health.
With a duration of 6 months (expected to start in July 2025), the scholarship has a monthly value of €1,040.98 and includes personal accident insurance. The selection process is based on the final course average (60%) and curricular assessment (40%), and there may be an interview in the event of a tie. The work will be supervised by Olga Noronha, the project's principal investigator, and will take place at ESAD in Matosinhos.
The contest is open from May 20, 2025 to June 10, 2025, with only applications being accepted within the established deadline.
