André letria

Illustrator André Letria is at ESAD for a lecture on editorial illustration, the illustrated album and the international promotion of the illustrator, within the scope of the Post-Graduated Course in Illustration and Digital Animation.

André Letria was born in Lisbon, in 1973, and has worked as an illustrator since 1992. During his professional career, he has won several awards, such as the Gulbenkian Prize, the Portuguese Prize for Illustration, silver and bronze medals in 3 × 3 Children's Books Annual or an Illustration Excellence Award from the Society for News Design (USA).

His books are published in the USA, England, Spain or Italy, among others. Letria participated in international exhibitions such as the Bratislava Biennial, the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition, Sarmede or Ilustrarte. He directed animation films and created scenography, having also participated as a judge of the Bologna Digital Award. In 2010, he founded Pato Lógico, an illustration and design studio. The book MAR, with illustrations of his own and texts by Ricardo Henriques, won a non-fiction mention in the Bologna Ragazzi Awards, in 2014.

The lecture will take place on February 20, at 4:30 PM, in Room P1.
