Animation workshops, film screenings and meetings with filmmakers

ESAD

From 7 to 9 July, ESAD hosts the second edition of the Polish Animation Panorama, which includes animation workshops, film screenings, and meetings with filmmakers from the Łódź Film School. An exhibition dedicated to animated films by students and faculty of the same school will also be on display from 8 to 24 July.
The National Film, Television and Theatre School in Łódź (Łódź Film School) is one of the most prestigious film schools in Europe. Founded on 8 March 1948 in Łódź, it trains professionals in the fields of acting, directing, cinematography, animation, photography, screenwriting, editing, and television production.
The institution is distinguished by a strong practical component, with a curriculum focused on the development of creativity and artistic experimentation, providing students with the resources and guidance needed to explore their potential and develop their own artistic languages.
The Faculty of Animation and Special Effects trains students in various animation techniques, including 2D, 3D, and stop-motion animation. The teaching staff includes internationally renowned filmmakers such as Piotr Dumała and Mariusz Wilczyński, whose artistic experience significantly enriches the teaching and learning process.
This meeting brings together works by artists from different generations, created using multiple techniques, offering unique perspectives on the contemporary world.
The second edition of the Polish Animation Panorama presents 22 animated films created by students and faculty over more than 30 years of the faculty’s history. The selection includes internationally award-winning works, as well as lesser-known but equally significant pieces, highlighting the diversity of voices and approaches within the school.
The program also includes a series of workshops led by professors and filmmakers from the Łódź school, film screenings, meetings with directors, and an exhibition on display at the ESAD auditorium in Matosinhos until 24 July.
All activities of the Polish Animation Panorama (workshops, meetings with filmmakers, and film screenings at ESAD) are free of charge.
