Immerse yourself in the visual world of José Albergaria, the ‘Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres’, who blends the precision of graphic design with the boldness of contemporary typography.
José Albergaria is a graphic designer from the Azores based in Paris. Throughout his career, he has distinguished himself through his contemporary approach and his use of techniques that strike a balance between tradition and modernity.
He is particularly renowned for his work in editorial design, corporate identity, signage and poster design, frequently employing a combination of geometric shapes and bold typography. His work explores the relationship between form and function, incorporating visual elements that seek to convey a clear and impactful message.
He regularly collaborates with cultural institutions, museums, theatres and design events, including graphic design festivals, such as co-organising AGI Open Paris 2017.
In addition to his professional practice, José Albergaria is actively involved in teaching, contributing to the training of new designers and the promotion of the design scene.
In 2020, he was appointed ‘Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres’ by the French Ministry of Culture.
The lecture, which will be open to the general public, and the subsequent workshop, which is exclusively for students of the Graduate Degree in Communication Design, are part of the programme of intensive lectures and workshops within the scope of this Graduate Degree coordinated by Andrew Howard.
