Miguel Almeida is a graphic designer, researcher and educator, graduated and post-graduated in Communication Design at ESAD Matosinhos (2010 & 2011). He collaborated at Atelier Martino&Jaña (2011–2014) and is one of the founders of the studio Nonverbal Club (since 2014). He lectured on the Advanced Studies in Editorial Design and Typography class at the MA in Graphic Design and Editorial Projects at Faculdade de Belas Artes do Porto (2013–2016), and is one of the coordinators of the Post-graduation Information Driven Design at ESAD.
As a graphic designer his practice focuses on editorial and visual communication systems for cultural and artistic projects, in close dialogue with curators, publishers, artists, designers, architects, coders, institutions and municipalities. Recent collaborations include Brotéria, Casa da Arquitectura, Culturgest, ETH Zürich Department of Architecture, Forum of the Future, Found Tapes Porto, Galeria Municipal do Porto, Jessica Gispert, Lars Müller Publishers, Museu da Cidade, Porto Academy, Porto Design Biennale, São Carlos National Theatre, Spector Books, Teatro do Bairro Alto and URSA.
The lecture, which will be open to the general public, and the subsequent workshop, which is exclusively for students of the Graduate Degree in Communication Design, are part of the programme of intensive lectures and workshops within the scope of this Graduate Degree coordinated by Andrew Howard.
