Lecture and Workshop with Florian Lamm

MA Talks

Auditorium (free admission)

Discover the art of navigating the analogue and the digital from one of Europe’s most decorated graphic design practices.

Florian Lamm, co-founder of the award-winning studio Lamm+Kirch, discusses the studio's specialized work in visual identities, books, and exhibitions for the cultural sector. Drawing on a deep expertise in printed matter, Florian will explore the intersection of analogue and digital publishing and the "shifting constellations" of collaborators that define their process. His talk delves into a design philosophy that balances the old with the new, seeking the tension between the obvious and the hidden.

The session highlights the rigorous craft behind a portfolio honored by 100 beste Plakate, Most Beautiful Swiss Books, and the Walter-Tiemann-Prize. From receiving the Award of the Mayor of the City of Brno to recognition at the International Poster Festival in Chaumont, Florian shares firsthand experience in creating world-class graphic design. Attendees will gain a unique perspective on how the studio functions as a research facility for visual language, consistently pushing the boundaries of contemporary graphic design.

The lecture, which will be open to the general public, and the subsequent workshop, which is exclusively for students of the Graduate Degree in Communication Design, are part of the programme of intensive lectures and workshops within the scope of this Graduate Degree coordinated by Andrew Howard.
