How is audiovisual culture conceived today in the arts and design?

Talk — 5 pm

We live surrounded by images, sounds, narratives and atmospheres. But how does audiovisual culture transform the arts, design, fashion, cinema and communication today? This conversation brings together four lecturers from ESAD to reflect on the role of image, sound and audiovisual creation in contemporary culture.

From backstage to the catwalk, from school to the professional world

Immersive installation — 3pm–9pm, 1st floor

An immersive installation recreates the energy of ESAD’s fashion show at Portugal Fashion, developed under the mentorship of Marques’Almeida. Amidst projections, surround sound and a darkened setting, visitors step backstage, experiencing the rhythm and intensity of a significant transition: from school to the professional world.

New ways of seeing, hearing and interpreting urban space

Screening — 3pm–9pm, 1st floor

Final-year students on the Undergraduate Degree in Digital Arts and Multimedia present audiovisual projects that explore image, sound, the city, memory and urban sustainability. An exhibition of experimental narratives developed at ESAD, where seeing, hearing and interpreting become ways of thinking about the contemporary world.
