Talk with António Rodrigues e Cláudia Lima

— Design&Drinks

Exploratório — Sede da Porto Design Biennale

Design&Drinks is a monthly series of talks that brings together different design schools to share experiences, ideas, and perspectives on the role of design today. The meetings take place on the last Thursday of each month, at 6 pm, at Exploratório — Headquarters of Porto Design Biennale, a dynamic space dedicated to exhibitions, talks, workshops, and events that bring design closer to the community.

Each session features a conversation, followed by a get-together at the bar, providing an informal space for networking among participants.

In this session entitled “What we need to know about design when all we know is design”, the conversation will be led by designers and lecturers at Universidade Lusófona do Porto, António Rodrigues and Cláudia Lima, who will share their experiences and professional perspectives on contemporary design.

António Rodrigues holds a PhD in Design from IADE – Creative University, a Master's degree in Industrial Design from Scuola Politecnica di Design di Milano, and a Bachelor's degree in Design from IADE. He is Director of the Communication Design Degree Program at Universidade Lusófona – Porto and a researcher at the University's Research Center. With an international career as a guest lecturer, speaker, and consultant in countries such as Brazil, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Japan, and China, he is also the General Director of Modus Design, where he has developed product, communication, space, and strategic design projects in more than 40 cities and 20 countries. His practice also includes individual photography exhibitions and applied research in the areas of creativity, innovation, and trends.

Cláudia Lima is a researcher at ID+ — Institute for Research in Design, Media, and Culture — and a design lecturer at Universidade Lusófona — Centro Universitário do Porto. She develops pedagogical practices and collaborative projects with students in applied research contexts, integrating dimensions of co-creation, social responsibility, and ethics in design. Since 2022, she has coordinated the REMIND: Design for People with Dementia project, which was awarded the Best Innovative Pedagogical Practice prize by COFAC's Fazer + Program, which links teaching, research, and community impact.
