Nutrition and sustainability

— Walk with biologist and permaculturist José Teixeira (and Inês Matos)

Matosinhos Market and Fish Market

Free mandatory registration: esadidea@esad.pt

Terrestrial and marine ecosystems are crucial for protecting biodiversity, producing food and providing countless environmental services. However, the increase in the population's food needs has led to the over-exploitation of important natural resources and habitats, as well as the intensification of production or extraction techniques, with serious consequences for ecosystems and biodiversity.

On this walk, we'll talk in a relaxed atmosphere about our eating habits, the ways in which the different foods that we'll find along the way at Matosinhos Market are produced or extracted, and discuss their impacts and possible alternatives and more sustainable habits. At the end there will be a show cooking and tasting of sustainable food in the Esad idea Exploratory building.

We suggest bringing a small notebook, pen or pencil, camera, comfortable shoes, a hat, water and good disposition. Punctuality is appreciated.

Exploratório Walks

The Exploratório Walks programme is a proposal from esad-idea that will welcome guests from different areas who will propose connections between places, experiences and themes.

The walks will take place regularly throughout the year and can be critical - with discussion of themes while walking - and/or creative - with silence and deep listening, visual representation or selective recollection as creative processes or in which the walk itself is a performative act.

This project is funded by FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P., under the project UIDP/05237/2020.
