On 9 January 2025, ESAD will host the conference The Packaging of Food Products and Sports Supplements - The Vision of Professional Users in the Field of Nutrition and High Competition, with the participation of Fátima Monteiro - nutritionist - and Pedro Walgode - high-performance athlete.
The conference, aimed at CTeSP students and open to the entire academic community, aims to discuss the intersection between packaging design and the growing concern for health, body image, nutrition, sports performance and sustainability.
It is through the testimonies of our guests that we explore the crucial role of packaging in communicating nutritional information, food safety and sustainability, taking into account legal requirements, scientifically rigorous content, cost management, among other factors that require a multidisciplinary approach to product construction.
Fátima Monteiro - Nutritionist, she is the specialist responsible for inpatient support at the Northern Rehabilitation Centre (CRN) and for the external nutrition consultation at Unit III Espinho of the ULSGE.
Pedro Walgode - High-performance figure skating athlete, gold medallist at the World Championships, two-time champion in 2022 and 2023, has 25 solo and pairs medals, and has won national and European championships. He is a PhD student in Chemical and Biological Engineering at FEUP.
The conference is organised by the Blue Design Alliance, coordinated by Margarida Azevedo and Luisa do Valle. The initiative is part of the Higher Professional Technical Course (CTeSP) in Food Product Communication Design, promoting links between technical training and professional practice.
