Each year ESAD organizes a study trip to Madrid, promoting, for the students, both a cultural heterogeneity and the possibility of experiencing in loco their specific characteristics.

This study trip intends to help understand and identify possible cultural identification and differential aspects between Portugal and Spain in a peninsular context. It also intends to help students form an enquiring attitude towards the world and towards design, providing the opportunity of connecting directly with masterpieces of plastic expression, Spanish and European, aiming for an understanding of art in its historical, temporal and geographic context.

This dynamic activity is a complementary extension of the classes, contributing to the development of civic and ethical behaviors, solidarity and cultural interest.

This study trip to Madrid already has 16 editions, this year with a group of 170 students guided by the lecturers Albano Lemos Pires, Antonino Jorge, António Mendanha, Marta Varzim, Elias Marques, Paulo Oliveira, Helena Cordeiro, Anita Gonçalves and Catarina Lopes.

The course includes a passage through Alcanices, Aranjuez, Ávila, Escorial, Madrid, Salamanca, Segóvia, Toledo, Tordesilhas, Toro, Valle de Los Caídos and Zamora.
