Study tour to london

Students of the Product Design MA and Post-Graduate Courses in Automotive Design and Furniture Design visited the British Museum, the Design Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) and the Zaha Hadid Gallery in London. This study tour is part of the study programme and an inspiration for future projects.

The British Museum, a public institution dedicated to human history, art and culture, gathers about eight million works in its permanent collection, documenting the history of human culture from its beginnings to the present. Students have visited the Europe 1900 to the present collection, which examines the change of mind about the appearance of objects and the desire to make well-designed objects available to a wider audience. The visit also included a visit to the exhibition Disposable? Rubbish and us exhibition, appealing to growing awareness of the devastating impact of plastic pollution.

At the Design Museum students visited the exhibitions Designer Maker User, Beazley Design of the Year and Moving to Mars, which explores themes such as architecture and engineering, the digital world, fashion and graphics, transport and product, graphic design of the past and sustainable urban design.

The Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) is considered the world's leading art and design museum, including a permanent collection of over 2.3 million objects covering more than 5,000 years of human creativity. This museum has many of the national collections and houses some of the greatest resources for the study of architecture, furniture, fashion, textiles, photography, sculpture, painting, jewellery, glass, ceramics, book arts, Asian art and design, theatre and performance.

The students also visited the Zaha Hadid Gallery, where the former ESAD student and designer Filipa Gomes works.
