
Victor Mesquita, author of multiple comic book works, is coming to ESAD to discuss his course of numerous decades regarding the art of illustration. Simultaneously, at ESAD’s atrium, the exhibition Victor Mesquita and the Magic of Comic Books will be displayed.
At the end of the conference, it will be available for purchase the works Eternus 9 - Um Filho do Cosmos e Eternus 9 - A Cidade dos Espelhos, which received, respectively, the awards for Science Fiction and Technology and Best Argument, awarded by FIBDA.
His first debut was in 1954 at the magazine Mundo de Aventuras with Nos Caminhos do Passado. He writes his own arguments and develops comic books for the Rand Daily Mail. During his career, he collaborated with multiple magazines and was awarded many times, such as, with an honorable mention at the Bienal Transvaal Academy Exhibition at Joanesburgo. In 1975, he creates and directs the magazine Visão and later publishes the album Eternus 9 Um Filho do Cosmos, translated in multiple languages. He organizes the first gathering of Portuguese comic books for the Histoire Mondiale de la Bande Dessinée by the publisher Pierr Horay, worldwide distributed. He publishes A Ilha da Bruma at the weekly magazine Expresso, in 1993, receiving the Vinheta award. In 1994 he is honored with the Mosquito Award, for drawer of the year and publishes at Expresso magazine O homem que não se chamava Hemingway, which will be a part of the album Trilogia com Tejo ao Fundo, published by Edições Asa, in 1995. In 2008, he receives the award Troféu de Honra (Career award), reworded by FIBDA - Amadora International Comic Festival.
