The exhibition Ulm: Método e Design 1953/68 introduces for the first time to the Portuguese public the legacy and the methodology of the project associated with the paradigmatic German school of design Hochschule für Gestaltung Ulm/Escola Superior de Design de Ulm, founded by Inge Aicher-Scholl, Otl Aicher and Max Bill in the postwar years and whose influence lasts until today.
As part of this exhibition, that is open to public in espaço Quadra, at the Mercado Municipal de Matosinhos, until 9 June, there is a set of parallel events, such as a lecture, a short film cycle and guided tours.
Marcela Quijano, invited to give a speech at ESAD on A Importância do Modelo de Ulm, studied industrial design at the University of Art of Berlin. Since 1981 she researches and works on the history of the Ulm School of Design. She is the Ulmer Museum curator since 1993 and the director of the Archive of this famous design school. In 2010 she became responsible for the development of the Ulm’s Archive Collection.
