
The seminar Textiles of the Future and Sustainability, within the event RODA, Fashion Revolution, features the participation of Amanda Johnston, Elsa Parente, Jorge Ribeiro and Giusy Bettoni, with organisation and moderation by Dolores Gouveia.
RODA is an event focused on sustainable fashion, which aims to spread concepts and practices linked to slow fashion, ethics and social transparency in design.
Textiles of the Future and Sustainability aims to discuss the evolution of textiles in the near future. Amanda Johnston, Elsa Parente, Jorge Ribeiro and Giusy Bettoni, who are devoted to changing the current fashion paradigm, share their responsible practices, projects and visions with our students.

AMANDA JOHNSTON
Amanda is the curator of The Sustainable Angle | Future Fabrics Expo. She has a degree in design and experience in consultancy, she's a lecturer at the London College of Fashion. She regularly runs workshops on sustainable materials, presenting seminars internationally.
GIUSY BETTONI
Giusy is the founder of C.L.A.S.S. (Creativity Lifestyle and Sustainable Synergy), is an expert in the textile field. C.L.A.S.S. promotes a new generation of fashion, where the fusion of design, innovation, communication and responsibility is crucial, through encouraging system change.
BÁRBARA LEITE
PhD in Biology, with 6 years of experience in microbiology, biotechnology and DNA-based technologies, she works in the textile industry as a scientific researcher, being currently the head of the research and development department of RDD - Research, Design and Development, where she aims to develop, industrialise and implement new sustainable projects and technologies.
JORGE RIBEIRO
Business advisor at RDD – Investigação, Design e Desenvolvimento and Pangaia, a materials science company, which has several developments, such as the use of wild flowers in the production of and other innovative biodegradable textiles.
DOLORES GOUVEIA
Graduated in Marketing Management and Textile and Fashion Design, she's lecturer at ESAD. Specialist in macro trends, she represented Portugal, through ANIVEC/ APIV, in international concertations on colour and fabrics. She is a consultant for the Associação Selectiva Moda and head of design and marketing at RDD Textiles.
