The Portugal-France Cross Season 2022, which runs from February to October 2022, corresponds to a set of programmes, events and activities, which aim to deepen the connection between the two countries, in various fields, with a strong focus on the dissemination of Portugal's creative image.
In the scope of this initiative, the Porto Design Biennale allies itself with the Institut Supérieur des Arts et du Design of Toulouse and and with ESAD to present a series of workshops that enhance the disciplinary crossing between designers, artists and students.
The first workshop, Sow Resistance, took place in Toulouse, under the guidance of João Castro and Rafael Gonçalves, ESAD lecturers, in partnership with the Furieuse Company. In this workshop, students were invited to create a visual system of elements, composed of phrases, modules, visual forms and slogans, with the aim of creating stencils, varying in scale and in use, that will be applied in public or private places.
The second workshop, (IN)tervene in the Neighborhood, takes place in Matosinhos, under the guidance of Ana Sofia Cardoso and João Castro, ESAD lecturers, in partnership with Sylvie Peyricot Chanchus, from the Furieuse Company and the H5 (Altertype). In this workshop, students are invited to create a visual system of elements, composed of phrases, modules, visual forms and slogans, varying in scale and in use, to be applied in public or private places in the urban space of the Cruz de Pau neighbourhood. In this way, an active dialogue between the local community of Cruz de Pau and O Bairro está IN(clusivo) is boosted, within the scope of this social and urban activation and regeneration project.
