Studio8, an architecture and materials design lab exploring digital tools, proposing new solutions for space design, materials and waste recovery, presents the conference Matterpieces - The Next Step is Circular Architecture, aiming to explore a new strategy for the valorisation of construction waste, through upcycling, turning it into a new raw material for architecture.

The needs of humanity have been at the centre of architecture for a long time, without considering the state of the planet, overloading all its resources. It is recognised that human-centred architecture alone is not enough, so it is urgent to start designing for the needs of humans, without exceeding the limits of our planet.

With construction accounting for about 50% of all raw materials extracted and construction waste being one of the main waste streams in the world, Studio8 proposes a new strategy, through upcycling, for circular construction, the preservation of material geology and the memory of places.

The conference takes place on December 6, at 10:30 am, in room S1.03, as part of the ESAD Interiors Talks.
