Sigurdur Thorsteinsson and Giulio Vinaccia will guide an interdisciplinary workshop, under the theme "Social Design - Surf in Matosinhos", as part of ESAD's Social Design Week, which will involve students from all of ESAD's training areas: product, fashion, interiors, multimedia and communication.

The Social Design Week, coordinated by Maria Milano and Lucio Magri, integrates the program of the Post-Graduation in Design for Social Impact and intends to reflect on the impact of design in society, through conferences and a workshop with renowned professionals.

Sigurdur Thorsteinsson and Giulio Vinaccia, senior designers of the United Nations and designers of international renown, guide this workshop with the objective of developing a multidisciplinary project, under the theme Social Design - Surf in Matosinhos, responding to a need of the Matosinhos City Hall, which seeks to expand the practice of surfing, with the implementation of new schools, new urban equipment and services to boost this practice.

In response to a proposal from Matosinhos City Hall to widen the practice of surfing, the participants in this workshop will design urban furniture, beach support equipment, changing room projects, promotional videos, graphic elements for the identification of schools, beaches and services that allow a wider access to the practice of this sport in the beaches of Matosinhos, Leça da Palmeira and Cabo do Mundo.
