
Regarding the Master in Communication Design 2016/2017, coordinated by Andrew Howard and Ana Raposo, Rúben Dias guides the workshop and presents the conference From the metal to the curves of beziers - The redesign of an XVIII century type of letter.
Rúben Dias, investigates and writes regularly on the history and evolution of typography in Portugal. He has a PhD in Design, on the theme The Fonts of the Royal Impression. At the moment he lectures Design, typography and design of fonts in ESAD in Matosinhos. He lectured at the Superior School of Arts and Design in Caldas da Rainha and at the Superior School of Technologies and Arts in Lisbon, he regularly develops lectures and workshops on typography and type design at AR.CO - Art and Visual Communication Center at ETIC - School of Innovation and Training Technologies and in its own workshop, the Tipografia Dias. He works as a graphic designer, draws fonts and has been developing a workshop for mobile characters made of wood and lead. In 2003 he founded the atelier Item Zero and is co-founder of the collective Tipos das Letras where he develops the RUHA project, a template for making letters and typographic families.
