The realization of a graphic project implies a relationship between the designer and the graphic industry. This link can be facilitated by a consultant / mediator who has technical knowledge that is transversal to the different stages of production and who has a large portfolio of suppliers. Thus, the Consultant in Graphic Production collaborates, from the outset, on the definition of the technical specifications of the work, followed by consultation of budgets and production deadlines, evaluation and selection of suppliers, production monitoring and control of deadlines.

The awareness about social responsibility and the environmental impact involved in the production of a graphic piece is fundamental in the activity of the graphic designer. The printing industry should adopt ethical procedures to ensure the well-being of society (human rights, labor practices) and environmental protection (efficient use of resources, prevention of pollution). This behavior is certified by regulatory agencies but is also recognized by customers, consumers and other parties involved. The designer has a responsibility to fit into this reality by making informed and conscious decisions.
