Garrafa porto. prize

Teresa Soares and Paulo Seco are the grand winners of the contest Dás o Litro pelo Porto? that took place on June the 10th in Central Nova Sintra, where all the proposals in competition are now in exhibition. The awards ceremony has counted on the presence of the Mayor of the city of Porto, Rui Moreira.

The challenge comes from the Programa de Alteração Comportamental para o Consumo de Água da Torneira, Beba Água do Porto: É Boa Todos os Dias!, launched by the company Águas do Porto, on April 2015.

There were 33 proposals presented to the jury, but the duo got the unanimity at the design and feasibility of the product. Teresa Soares, student of the 3rd grade in the Bachelor course of Product Design, and Paulo Seco, professor at ESAD, presented a flexible solution for the smaller bottle, and a more sophisticated solution for the glass bottle.

It was required to present the design and the conception of a water bottle with capacity for 0,5 Liter, portable and with a proof cap, with a mechanism that would not allow it to unleash from the bottle. Moreover it was also required a glass bottle, for 1,5 liter, with no cap and to use only at home.

According to the proposal of the awarded team, the creation of the 0,5l bottle asked for solutions in several situations, like drinking water in informal ways, by its bottleneck; the creation of a glass, in order to avoid the contact of the mouth; and a second cap, for the use of a plastic straw, aimed at children and people with motor difficulties. Furthermore the winner proposal refers that, for the glass bottle, potentially used in more classic ways, they wanted to invoke some refinement in the gesture of serving the water, using the bottle plus the support of a base. This base is a recipient with isothermal features, maintaining the temperature of the water.
