
The Paulo Cunha e Silva Art Prize was created by the Porto City Council as a tribute to the former Councillor for Culture, who served from September 2013 to 11th November 2015.
The prize, aimed at international artists under 40 years of age, has a monetary value of 25,000 euros. The artists nominated for the prize are indicated by a group of 16 curators chosen by the 4 members of the jury invited by the Department of Culture of Porto City Council.
For the jury of the second edition of the Prize, the Department of Culture invited Isabel Lewis, John Akomfrah, Margarida Mendes and Shumon Basar. In turn, the jury appointed 16 curators - Aram Moshayedi, Claire Tancons, Daniel Blanga Gubbay, Elvira Dyangani Ose, Clémentine Deliss, Cliff Lauson, Elise Atangana, Zóe Whitley, Binna Choi, Christine Tohme, Natasha Ginwala, Ute Meta Bauer, Claude Adjil, Lara Khaldi, Marlies Wirth and Zang Wi & Hu Fang - each curator nominated three artists for a total of 48 guests.
The graphic and web design projects of the Paulo Cunha e Silva Art Prize were developed by esad-idea, Design and Art Research at ESAD.
