Nuno coelho 2017

Nuno Coelho presents at ESAD the lecture Archeology of Design, about investigation-production, that is, the materialization of investigation in design in the area of heritage of projectile components. This initiative was developed regarding the Master in Communication Design, coordinated by Andrew Howard, in which Nuno Coelho guides a workshop about the Projecting of a Collective Portuguese Symbol.

Nuno Coelho is a communication designer, a lecturer on the Design and Multimedia courses of the University of Coimbra, and a researcher at the CEIS20-UC. He holds a PhD on Contemporary Art from the University of Coimbra, a Master in Design and Graphic Production from the University of Barcelona and a degree in Communication Design and Graphic Art from the University of porto.

In his activity as a freelance Designer, he has worked for individuals and organizations in Portugal and abroad, mainly with culture related clients. In his graphic work he widely explores concepts like appropriation, vernacular, irony and humor. He has developed his own projects in the intersection between Design and Art, raising questions, in its vast majority, regarding social and politic issues. He has also been working on topics related with identity and memory by exploring the visual imagery of old Portuguese trademarks. He has exhibited his work in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain. He gave talks in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Germany, Greece, Mexico and Portugal.
