
Gonçalo Furtado presents the conference Notes on Relationships between Design, Architecture and Art in the 20th Century, as part of the Degree in Interior Design.
Notes on Relationships between Design, Architecture and Art in the 20th Century will take place on March 15, at 10:30 am, in the auditorium, and will address topics such as the crisis of representation and the metaphorization of the machine; from class conflict to homogenization; disciplinary autonomy and historical eclecticism; the spectacle and late capitalism; the experience of the transitory and the projection towards unpredictability.
Gonçalo Furtado has a degree in architecture from the University of Porto, a Master's in Urban Culture from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and a PhD from the University College of London. Author of several books, as well as articles on architecture and design, he is a lecturer at FAUP, having also contributed to the Master's Degree in Design at FEUP and the Postgraduate Degree at IADE. He has lectured in several countries in Europe and America and designed several events, such as Plug-in for Experimenta Design, the exhibition Tracing Portugal and the seminar *The Body Framed". Throughout his professional career Gonçalo has won several national and international awards.
