Begüm Eken, a graphic designer, presents Nature Fades — Facts We Do not Know, a work developed under the ERASMUS+ programme, within the scope of an ERASMUS residence held at ESAD from June to September 2018.
The turkish designer is finishing a PhD in Graphic Design at Hacettepe University, Graduate School of Fine Arts, and has several international works and exhibitions, such as The Future is Not What it Used To Be or International AEA Exhibition.
Nature Fades — Facts We Do not Know brings together a series of posters that is trying to alert, educate and influence people to make sustainable decisions, even as little as acting responsibly individually or more globally around the use of natural resources. All the facts given on the posters are extracted from WWF — World Wild Life’s website.
'Nature Fades — Facts We Do not Know' looks at species of animals that have existed for millions of years on earth. The earliest extant species of animals date back to about 600 million years ago. However, our ancestors, homosapiens, evolved only 2 million years ago. We may be the most cleverest species ever developed on this earth, but it may well be argued that today humans don’t act wisely, protecting and preserving the earth. Today, a large number of species are extinct or endangered, threatened mainly by human activities, such as over population, loss of habitat, chemical pollution and others. — Begüm Eken
