Fashion for a cause was born from the initiative of the Association Sorriso Solidário that challenged ESAD, Porto’s Municipal City Hall and the Movement Lírio Azul, to integrate a project that had the purpose of producing covers/guards to offer to the homeless.

This challenge also had the collaboration of local elderly residents of retirement homes, for whom the pieces were developed, to occupy their free time, as to support local underprivileged children who drew and decorated the pieces produced. This work was coordinated by ESAD, guided by the designer Maria Gambina, coordinator of the Degree in Fashion Design.

The purpose of this initiative is to conduct and auction with the produced pieces – scheduled for October 27 – in which the value will revert to the Association CAIS and Médicos do Mundo. This two institutions will transform the value collected in the auction and produce new covers/guards that will be, posteriorly, distributed to the homeless.

Concert Christmas with Shelter Clérigos Church

The presence of the project fashion for a causa at the Concert Christmas with Shelter was developed from the urge of creating more synergies, towards helping the homeless.
It is organized by the group Christmas with helter and it emerged with the purpose of offering a Christmas concert to those who do not have a home or family to celebrate this special occasion with.
The entrance is free and open to everyone. The project Fashion for a cause is in its last phase, in the acquisition and distribution of sleeping bags, due to the value gathered from the cover sells. Its distribution is scheduled between 12 to 17 December and it will be conducted by the team Médicos do Mundo
