Brainstorm, innovation, creativity, think outside the box, design, develop, imagine and present. National and international designers met for six days in Ofir at a workshop promoted by LEXUS and ESAD. Motivation was the watchword and new ideas were a constant. From Portugal to Turkey, from Austria to Poland, there are no boundaries for creativity, there are no limits to making the world a better place.
The first edition of LEXUS/ESAD Design Camp was held from September 10 to 15, with the aim of stimulating the creation and development of innovative ideas that resulted in possible proposals to be submitted to the prestigious LEXUS Design Award.
Loic Charlon, representative of LEXUS Europe, presented the central theme of the competition - CO to all participants. CO of collaboration, communication, cooperation and cohesion. Alexander Neumeister, a vehicle designer known for dismembering the bullet train in Japan, and Sérgio Teles, a specialist in innovation, also deserves special mention.
The coordination of the event was handled by Jeremy Aston, designer and coordinator of the ID Masters Design of ESAD, in Product Design and Automotive Design. The teaching team was completed by João Cruz (Interiors), Sérgio Correia (Communication), Rui Canela (Lighting), Michael Marcondes (3D), Anita Gonçalves (Fashion).
After the Inspirational Talks, brainstorming, brainstorming and projection, the LEXUS / ESAD Design Camp teams (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta and Echo), made up of participants and coordinated by ESAD teachers, developed and presented five innovative proposals - Smile, Invisible Mask, First Step, Cotech and Shy Talks - to the representatives of LEXUS Portugal and to all those present.
Although, the sharing of knowledge did not stop there: participants continue to develop the projects for submission to the LEXUS Design Award 2018, until October 8.
The jury selects twelve finalists that are exhibited in Milan Design Week 2018, four of them with prototypes. Innovation and design are essential components for the LEXUS jury, who believe in the power of creativity to change the world and build a better future.
LEXUS Portugal also honored the best work produced at Design Camp with a special prize: a trip to Milan Design Week 2018.
