João Ornelas is a partner & managing director at Grandesign since 2000. He has a Degree in Transportation Design in the Art Center College of Design Europe. He has several awards, such as Red Dot Award (2008, 2013 e 2014), the Honourable Mention Design Management Europe (2008), the National Design Award by the CPD/Portuguese Design Center (2002), the Gold Award by the Portuguese Clube dos Criativos (1998), the 1st Prize in the UBS Interior Bank Design Competition (1994), the 1st Prize in the Art Center Europe Transportation Design Scholarship Competition (1993), the 1st Prize in the CDAE/Designers Europe - Concours de Design Automobile European (1993), and the 1st Prize in the Essilor Optical Design Competition (1990).

This conference is part of the programme ESAD TALKS ID 2016 within ESAD's Bachelor and Master Degrees in Product Design, which includes lectures and workshops with big names in the product design, this year with Boris Fabris, Mike Whalley, John Ornelas and Jurgen Schroeder.
