In-between this and something else invites us to travel through the urban space of Macau through a set of photographs and videos by Nuno Cera and sound installation by Rui Farinha, starting from the book Macau. Dialogues on Architecture and Society (Circo de Ideias, 2019), edited by Margarida Saraiva and Tiago Saldanha Quadros.
The exhibition, produced by Babel Cultural Organisation and esad-idea, Research in Design and Art, integrates a programme of talks, coordinated by Magda Seifert and Tomé Saldanha Quadros. This exhibition is a parallel project of DESIGNAgorà documentary film festival, this year dedicated to the theme Li(ea)ving Utopia.
The talk In-between this and something else: dialogues, ellipses and amnesias seeks to foster critical thinking in the perspective of multimodal studies of Spaces and Cultural Objects (architecture and urbanism) and Images (photography and cinema), finding its way to put the emphasis on the attention of the gaze in reading, seeing, interpreting the transformation of urban landscapes of the cultural territory as a self-representation of identity.
