Hamish Muir is a designer and founding principal of 8vo, editor of Octavo - International Journal of Typography and lecturer at the London College of Communication. In 2010 Hamish formed MuirMcNeil Design Systems with Paul McNeil, and in 2011 he co-founded Outcast Editions, a digital publishing company specialising in interactive design and architecture books for iPad.

Hamish Muir was born in 1957, in Scotland. Studied Visual Communication at Bath Academy of Art (undergraduate) and Advanced Graphic Design at the School of Design, Basel, Switzerland (postgraduate). He is a member of the ISTD and the Alliance Graphique Internationale. Awards include International Typography Almanac 1991, Robundo, Japan.
