The workshop Understanding bamboo as a material and exploring it in its natural state will be led by Andrea Noronha, a furniture designer and architect practising in India. Recently she has been working with bamboo as a material for furniture within a craft community production. She works with the Department of Furniture and Interior Design at the National Institute of Design, India. Currently she is doing a residency with the Paredes Centre for Furniture Design, in Portugal.

Session one A presentation on bamboo working traditions and its relevance in the Indian craft scenario.

5 jun, 9:30-12:30; 14:00-17:00
Session two A bamboo working demonstration & a practical exploration of the material to generate product ideas while working with the material.

This workshop is integrated in Design Product Week/Semana de Design de Produto, wich takes place at ESAD from 4th to 8th June. Apllications are now open.
