The Escola Artística de Soares dos Reis (EASR) invited ESAD and Softlight - Iluminação, S.A. to develop a luminaire project.

The proposal for the FCT (Work Based Training) project was to design two types of luminaire, aimed at domestic or work contexts, a line of objects that functioned as a whole, duly articulated with the character of the defined users/spaces, focusing on innovation and functional, aesthetic and symbolic values.

The ESAR students visited ESAD and Softlight to analyse the components, materials and technologies available for developing the proposal. During the course of the project, an intermediate situation point was held to analyse the design alternatives, which included the presentation of research, references, inspirations, sketches, rigorous representations, 3D models and preliminary physical models. The final presentation of the project, in turn, included the entire design development process and a functional model, to a scale of 1:1.

The partnership between organisations aims to boost the contribution of business structures and deepen technical and professional knowledge, in a process of mutual enrichment and continuous renewal.
