To mark once gain the date of creation of Icograda – International Council of Graphic Design Associations, ESAD will bring together on the following Tuesday, the 30th of April, around 20 designers/studios. It celebrates the vitality and diversity of Portuguese graphic design and promotes a forum for discussion of ideas and processes, regarding the power and responsibility of design, including its role in an ideological reaction towards the recession.

The fourth edition of World Graphics Day will take place at Cine-Teatro Constantino Nery, with the support of Matosinhos Council, at 3pm and will consist of short presentations of 20 designers/studios. The event is curated by José Bártolo, president of the Scientific Committee of ESAD.

The participants for this year are Ambas As Duas, Anoik, André Cruz, Carlos Gaspar, Catarina Sobral, Dino dos Santos, Ideia Designers, Joana Correia, Joana Monteiro, João Nunes, Júlio Dolbeth, Luísa Barreto, Márcia Novais, Mau Maria, Onrepeat, Rui Quinta, Sara Westermann, Sílvia Prudêncio, Studio AH HA, White Studio. The curator of the event is José Bártolo, president of the Scientific Committee of ESAD. Entrance is free, limited to room capacity.

The fourth issue of PLI arte & design magazine is released the same day. The theme for the magazine – Hot & Cool – evokes the current heat of discord and conflict and the cold associated with reaction, critic and pragmatic phenomena that characterise contemporary society in general and the field of art and design in particular. Tomás Maldonado, Fernando Brízio, Marco Balesteros, Robert Somol e Sarah Whiting, Ana Rainha, Maria Milano, Ana Medeiros, André Tentúgal or Tyler Johnson are some of its collaborators.
